The Rolwaling Valley Trek, located within the Gaurishankar Conservation Area (GCA), is a moderately challenging teahouse trek nestled between Langtang National Park and the Khumbu region (home to Mt. Everest) in Nepal. This trail is part of the famous Great Himalaya Trail and offers a quieter, less-traveled route that runs close to the Tibetan border. The Sherpa village of Beding, located about a three-day walk from Gonghar Khola, is the largest settlement in the Rolwaling Valley.
For adventurous trekkers, the Rolwaling Valley trek can be combined with a challenging crossing of the Tashi Lapcha La Pass (5,755m). This requires basic climbing skills, experienced guides, and permits, including a Pachermo Peak climbing permit. Along the trek, you will encounter Tsho Rolpa (4,580m), one of Nepal’s largest glacial lakes. This lake often marks the turnaround point for those returning to Gonghar Khola.
