Dhaulagiri Circuit Trekking

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Kathmandu. After check-in, you can rest and recover from your journey. In the evening, you’ll meet your trekking guide for a briefing about the trek, check equipment, and discuss preparations for the upcoming adventure. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

After breakfast, embark on a guided sightseeing tour of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu, including Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), and the historic Kathmandu Durbar Square. In the afternoon, return to your hotel for trek preparations—checking gear, packing essentials, and making final arrangements. After an early breakfast, we begin a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Beni, the district headquarters of Myagdi. The journey follows winding highways through lush hillsides, terraced fields, and charming villages, with beautiful views of the Trishuli and Marsyangdi Rivers. Along the way, we pass Pokhara before continuing west toward Beni. Upon arrival, check into your lodge and enjoy some rest before the trek begins. Overnight stay in Beni.

Today marks the first day of trekking. Leaving Beni, we follow the Myagdi Khola upstream through fertile farmland, charming villages, and lush subtropical forests. The trail is gentle with gradual ascents, offering scenic views of terraced fields and surrounding hills. We pass through several settlements, where you can experience the warm hospitality of the locals. By late afternoon, we arrive in Babichaur and settle into our camp or lodge for the night. After breakfast, we continue along the Myagdi Khola, gradually ascending through terraced farmlands, small Magar and Gurung villages, and dense subtropical forests. The trail offers beautiful views of cascading waterfalls and distant mountain peaks. As we move higher, the climate becomes cooler and the terrain more rugged. In the afternoon, we reach Dharapani, a quiet village surrounded by hills, where we set up camp or stay in a local lodge. Overnight stay in Dharapani.

Leaving Dharapani, we follow a scenic trail through terraced fields and traditional villages. The path gradually ascends, offering stunning views of Mt. Dhaulagiri and surrounding peaks. We pass through small settlements, cross suspension bridges, and enjoy glimpses of rural life in the high hills. A gentle climb brings us to Muri, a beautiful Gurung village with panoramic views of the Dhaulagiri and Manapathi ranges. Overnight stay in Muri.

Today’s trek begins with a descent to cross a suspension bridge over the Muri Khola, followed by a gradual climb through dense forests and terraced hillsides. The trail offers occasional views of Dhaulagiri and surrounding peaks as we pass through remote villages where farming is the main livelihood. As we move deeper into the valley, the path becomes narrower and more rugged. By late afternoon, we arrive at Boghara, a small settlement surrounded by farmland. Overnight stay in Boghara.

Leaving Boghara, the trail steadily climbs through mixed forests of pine and rhododendron, with stunning views of snow-capped peaks in the distance. The path passes small villages and farmland, gradually gaining altitude. After crossing several streams and suspension bridges, we reach Dovan, a peaceful clearing nestled among the hills and surrounded by alpine forests. This is a perfect spot to rest and acclimatize. From Dovan, the trail becomes steeper and more rugged as we begin the ascent toward higher altitudes. Trekking through alpine terrain, we pass rocky landscapes and sparse vegetation, gradually gaining elevation. Along the way, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding peaks, including glimpses of Dhaulagiri. By late afternoon, we arrive at the Italian Base Camp, a key resting point for climbers preparing to scale Dhaulagiri. Overnight stay at Italian Base Camp.

To help your body adjust to the high altitude, today is a rest and acclimatization day at Italian Base Camp. You can explore the surrounding area, take short hikes to nearby viewpoints, and enjoy the breathtaking mountain scenery. This day allows your body to adapt and prepare for the challenging passes ahead, reducing the risk of altitude sickness. Overnight stay at Italian Base Camp.

Today, the trek becomes more challenging as we ascend toward Glacier Camp. The trail passes through rocky terrain and moraines, with stunning views of the towering Dhaulagiri massif. As you gain altitude, the landscape shifts to snow and ice fields. Glacier Camp offers a critical resting point before crossing the high mountain passes ahead. Overnight stay at Glacier Camp.

From Glacier Camp, the trail leads to the Dhaulagiri Base Camp, nestled at the foot of the mighty Dhaulagiri peak. This section involves trekking across rocky and icy terrain, offering incredible close-up views of the towering 8,167-meter summit. Spend time at the base camp soaking in the majestic surroundings and capturing unforgettable photos. Overnight stay at Dhaulagiri Base Camp.

Today is a rest day to help your body adjust to the high altitude. You can explore nearby areas around the base camp, take short hikes to nearby viewpoints, and enjoy the stunning panoramic views of the Dhaulagiri massif and surrounding peaks. This day is essential for acclimatization and preparation for the challenging pass crossing ahead. Overnight stay at Dhaulagiri Base Camp.

Today, you will undertake a demanding ascent from Dhaulagiri Base Camp to the French Col Pass, the highest point on the trek at 5,240 meters. The trail leads across snowy slopes and icy ridges, requiring careful navigation and stamina. Upon reaching the pass, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Himalayan range, including Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Nilgiri peaks. After spending some time at the summit, descend carefully to the next camp for overnight rest.

After crossing the French Col Pass, you will descend into the stunning Hidden Valley, a remote alpine basin surrounded by towering peaks. The trail gradually descends through snowfields and rocky terrain, offering breathtaking views of glaciers and mountain ridges. Hidden Valley Camp is a serene and less-traveled spot, perfect for rest and acclimatization amid pristine natural beauty. Overnight stay at Hidden Valley Camp.

Today’s trek descends from the alpine beauty of Hidden Valley toward Yak Kharka, passing through rugged terrain dotted with yak pastures and high-altitude grasslands. The trail offers spectacular views of surrounding peaks and glaciers as you navigate rocky paths and small streams. Yak Kharka is a traditional grazing area and a peaceful resting spot before continuing to the next stage of the trek. Overnight stay at Yak Kharka.

From Yak Kharka, the trail descends steadily through beautiful landscapes, passing through alpine meadows, rocky paths, and small villages. As you approach lower elevations, the environment shifts to a drier, desert-like terrain characteristic of the Mustang region. Upon arrival in Jomsom, a bustling town and gateway to the Mustang Valley, you can explore local markets and enjoy a well-deserved rest. Overnight stay in Jomsom.

After breakfast, take a scenic flight from Jomsom to Pokhara, enjoying spectacular aerial views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Upon arrival in Pokhara, you’ll be transferred to your hotel where you can relax and unwind. Spend the rest of the day exploring the lakeside city or simply resting after the trek. After breakfast, enjoy a comfortable drive or a short flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you’ll be transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for shopping, sightseeing, or relaxing. In the evening, you may choose to enjoy a farewell dinner with your trekking group. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.
